PATRICK GUIDERA- (Founding Member, Lead/harmony vocals and guitar) – Ranger Pat, while living in Hinton, Alberta began playing bluegrass in the early 1990’s in the all forestry band named “Stumped”, later re-named “Loggerhythm”. Upon arriving in Edmonton in 2003, Pat began performing in the Northern Bluegrass Circle House Band. After two years with the House Band, Pat and Don Lecky, Michelle Guidera and Augie Hangartner formed the new group called “Cabin Fever Band”. Twelve years and five banjo players later, the modern Cabin Fever Band now includes four members including Patrick Guidera (Guitar/vocals), Frank Omoe (Mandolin), Kyeler Tymafichuk (Fiddle/Banjo), and Dodie Baker (Guitar/vocals). Pat has been musically influenced by Ricky Scaggs, Seldom Scene, Blue Highway and Rhonda Vincent!!
FRANK OMOE – (Mandolin) – While Frank is the newest member of Cabin Fever his love for playing music began many years ago. Beginning in 1966, and unable to immediately play up to speed, Frank took a forty year hiatus from the mandolin until retiring s a school principal in 2009. The advent of slow down programs mixed with slow tab reading, a “playable” mandolin (his beloved Weber), and the encouragement and support of the folks at the Northern Bluegrass Circle Music Society, brought him back to playing. The Wednesday NBCMS Jam, Acoustic Workshops, Winter Jam Camps and jamming almost daily in Mesa, AZ during winters provided great opportunities to learn and play bluegrass mandolin. Weekly get-togethers in the garage of a fellow retired educator led to the formation of Smalltime, a folky/country/bluesy aggregation that provides Frank with the opportunity to play the mandolin to different styles of music. Citing John Reischman and Ronnie McCoury as his biggest mandolin influences , Frank brings enthusiasm, a solid “chop,” and a penchant for the double stop to Cabin Fever.
KYELER TYMAFICHUK (Banjo/fiddle/vocals) – This young man provides limitless entertainment for the band and audiences! Finishing his Grade 12 and then registering in the Grant Community University 4 year Music Program, makes this multi-talented man provide excellent singing, champion fiddle playing, and banjo player extraordinaire come to light in every performance. We are delighted to have Kyeler in the Cabin Fever Band!!
DODIE BAKER (Guitar/vocals) – Absolutely loves Bluegrass!! From a young child of four, Dodie fell in love with the RCA album The Original and Great Carter Family, which she danced and sang to for many years. Music lessons began in Grade 2 where she studied the accordion. Their band the Sensations had a drummer (Rolph Siedel), guitar (played by Wendy, Dodie’s sister) and accordion (Dodie) played from Bluffton, Alberta for many dances, anniversaries, wedding showers and must have been the cutest band going as the girls were aged 7 and 8. Then at age 13, the girls took a rest from music, boys were more interesting. But at 25, folk music and the guitar became central in her life. Since then she has played in the Bluegrass bands Black Lightning, A Page in Time, and finally landing in Cabin Fever Band where she sings lead, harmony and plays guitar. Her major influences include Ralph Stanley, Tony Rice, Del McCoury the Carter Family, Emmy Lou Harris, and Rhonda Vincent. Dodie adds great value to Cabin Fever Band.
